TOP CHEF TOUR MAKES IT TO SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS AND MICHAEL ATTENDS
No way was I going to let the TOP CHEF TOUR sneak into town without me making an appearance. I heart TOP CHEF.
Woke up early to go stand in line at HEB ALON MARKET with about 200
of my closest foodies. They said this was the biggest crowd they had seen so far on this tour. I wonder if they say that at all the events?
Well, like everything that goes on in San Antonio, this event was poorly organized. One was supposed to pre-register for tickets and I swear I looked every day, sometimes three or four times a day to find that registration link and never did it appear. Many in the crowd mumbled the same complaint. Some peeps found the link though because they were ushered to the front of the line like VIPs. Anyway, there was room for about 60 peeps at the demonstration tent and I was about 10 too far in the line to make it to the first show. I stood around the tent and watched it anwyay.
Last night we did a test run to ALON and we saw a sign that said Carla and some other chica were going to be the guest chefs but today the sign said it was
Dale
and
Ryan. Hmmm? They said that today was their first turn at the tour this season. Ryan even joked that he had to take seven connecting flights just to get to San Antonio.
I never really like Dale when he was a contestant on Top Chef Season Four and when he was on the Alumni show. Ryan was also on season four and was cool to watch but he got voted out early as I recall.
The exchange between Dale and Ryan was fun. They were having a good time and entertained the crowd well but this is a cooking
thingy so they did a quick-fire to the delight of the crowd.
As I was outside the tent, I didn't get to partake in sampling their creations. Boo.
When I went to go purchase a t-shirt, I missed the announcement on who won the quick-fire. I would think Dale won because his dish just looked more tasty. Even from a distance.
PS: Ryan was on his second beer when the show started at 10:30A. You go Ryan.
PPS: Dale was not nearly as assholey as he appeared on TV.
PPPS: Was great to see Emily Yantis there for the early show. She made it inside the tent. Boo.
PPPPS: I forgot to bring my TOP CHEF COOKBOOK for them to sign, dammit.
