REVIEW: Arlo's Cocina Mexicana

Disclaimer: this new joint on Wetmore Road is owned by the brother of a friend of mine.  To be honest with you, I probably never would have given it a second look had she not suggested I give it a try. I'm glad I did.

This restaurant opened on July 1.  It is in one of those unassuming strip joints in the middle of that long road that straddles the right side of the airport near Wurzbach Parkway and Wetmore Road.

REVIEW: My own Hatch Picadillo

When Tommy was ill and had his major operation in Albuquerque, NM, Tia Bea; Tia Geri; Tia Marylou; Tia Gloria and other various relations made us supper that very long day. Apparently all the Montoya's are excellent cooks.  Even by relation. My cousin Joe Jr.'s wife Manin made the picadillo and I have had fantasies about it ever since.  That was circa 2005.  In fact I still dream about that entire meal.  It was THAT good.

Found this recipe for Picadillo last summer @ HEB Central Market during their Hatch Green Chile Festival.  Thought I'd give it a try still always knowing that I could never match Manin's Picadillo.

This recipe was just OK.  I will not make it again.

REVIEW: Tito's Mexican Resaturant

Breakfast after the Today Show San Antonio Thingy Thing w/ @arios5 and Jessica.  This restaurant is in South Town or is it King William.  Either way it's close to where Jessica lives by La Tuna.

Having been up since 3:30AM, I was starvin' Marvin by the time we left the Today Show taping.  Had two Picadillo Breakfast Tacos and a Machacado Breakfast Taco for good measure because I was just sooo hungry.  I ate them all up so it was difficult to gauge whether they were THAT good or I was THAT hungry??  I'll say they were good just to be on the safe side.
