REVIEW: Old German Bakery & Restaurant

Img_0475
It's in Fredericksburg, Y'all! So the sib and wifey are in town for the long holiday weekend. Trying our hardest to figure out what to do that we already haven't done in a previous trip. Traveled an hour Northwest to the quaint little town of Fredericksburg. This is where they grow the peaches. Probably a couple of weeks too early for fresh peaches so we just walked the town and drank and ate like everyone else. Came across this joint and decided it looked good.  I could find no website.

My meal started with a salad.  I was actually suprised because I thought it would be one of those salads that they slap on your plate.  It was fresh and good.  They actually had French dressing.  I was trying to be all continental in this German Restaurant.

REVIEW: my own Bacon, Fried Egg and Green Chile Breakfast Tacos

Everything I can put Green Chile on or in these next two weeks I will. I have a soft-on for Green Chile documented here.

Woke up so hungry so made me a couple of breakfast tacos.  When I first moved to San Antonio 14 years ago, a colleague invited me to go get some breakfast tacos.  I had never heard of such a thing.  I envisioned breakfast food in crispy tacos.  That did not sound good to me.  When we got to the restaurant I delighted in finding out they were just like our breakfast burritos except not all rolled up; merely folded flat like a taco.  Ahhh----this made sense and I have been enjoying them ever since.

When I make my own breakfast tacos at home I always use fried eggs instead of scrambled eggs.  I'm just weird that way.  Actually, I prefer the juicy juice of the runny eggs. Topped with bacon and fresh chopped green chile and all rolled flat in a green chile tortilla compliments of Central Market, my breakfast was super yummy.

One green chile meal down---two more to go.

Three green chile meals a day documented German style a la Inglorious Basterds or American Style.

  German style is difficult.  LOL.
