Everyone already knows how I heart Hatch Green Chile so I always find a way to get involved with HEB Central Market's Hatch Festival.  Last year I was a finalist in this very prestigious and important recipe contest but this year I was invited to participate as a judge.  The post from last year is here. Thank you HEB Central Market.

HEB Central Market Hatch Chile Recipe Contest #greenchile

My friends and family know not to wish me good luck. I simply do not believe in luck, good or bad. Instead we say “try real hard”. So wish me some “try real hard”.

My recipe for my State Line Green Chile Meatball Sandwich has been selected as one of the final recipes to compete in the Hatch Chile Recipe Contest at HEB Central Marketthis Saturday.

I heart Green Chile and this is a real honor. I am super excited and expect to win of course.

#GreenChile Hatch Green Chile (yet even more)

My fave time of year but you already knew that as much as I blah blah blah about Hatch Green Chile.

Saturday I had Green Chile Breakfast Casserole which unfortunately was not that good.

Tonight I will nom nom on this Green Chile Brownie from HEB Central Market.

And by far the best way to consume Green Chile is just to plop a heaping mess mixed w/ garlic salt on a warm tortilla.  Again, nom nom nom.

REVIEW: HEB Central Market Sandwich Counter.

#4 on the Tour de Broadway

I am falling way behind on my little project. Late lunch today fixed all of that.

Stopped into HEB Central Market for a cake.  Tomorrow is S BDay and I'm not much in the mood for baking.

Stopped by the sandwich counter and had the Broadway Roast Beef.

Preperation took longer than I cared for but when I sunk my teeth into this panini, it was an explosion of flavor.

The roast beef was fresh.  Onions grilled just right.  Horseradish, OMG.  Every ingredient was layered just perfectly with the next ingredient.  I ate it all up, and quickly too.

4.5 Stars out of 5

PS:  I will return for more soon.

REVIEW: Hatch Green Chile Festival @ Central Market H-E-B San Antonio

Pix are here.

As a native New Mexican I was sad to move to San Antonio 14 years ago and away from a close source of Hatch Green Chile.  In New Mexico, there is no other substitute.  And every late summer, the air is filled with tantalizing smell of green chile roasting.

Thank the lard for Central Market.  Somewhere along the way they started hauling the green chile up to ME by the truckloads.  For two weeks in late August I am able to purchase fresh, roasted green chile for my own personal stash and am able to sample it in all kinds of ingenious ways.  The market has seen fit to put it in chips; tortillas; sausages; hamburgers; scones; etc.  Truly I am in green chile heaven.

Friends.  Get your Butt (pun intended) over to Central Market on Broadway and sample your self some authentic New Mexican cuisine.  I personally guarantee it.

PS.  I would have taken more photos but the HEB No Photos Inside The Store Policy Enforcer found me and gently asked me to refrain from taking more photos.  At least they didn't take my media card like Kenny Chesney did to a fan at a concert. Sorry Mr. Butt but I am merely a fan of your green chile festival not a spy hoping to steal supermarket secrets.

PPS.  Guess I missed the entertainment this year as I was there kinda early.  There is always next week.
