REVIEW: SICHUAN CUISINE
Thanks to @askbal who responded to my tweet of this review, tonight, I finally had a decent Chinese meal in San Antonio.
Well actually I write this on Monday and we ate there on Saturday night but you get the gist of my story.
In the suburb of Castle Hills, in an unassuming strip center, was my Chinese Delight: Sichuan Cuisine.
The place was full of Asian diners; always a good sign.
We started with the cold appetizer Bang Bang Chicken. This dish was quick to the table. This dish was too spicy for my dining companions but just right for me. I've had Bang Bang Shrimp before at other locations and this was no comparison. This dish was completely better albeit a bit greasy.
My entree was the Smoked Pork with Garlic Leek or as S called it: Bacon. LOL. Indeed it was bacon but dammit, this was delicious. This dish was tender, rich and smoky with just enough of those garlic leek things to even things out.
I can't wait to go back and try the Sliced Pig Ear in Hot Chili Oil or the Sliced Whole Fish with Hot Sauce.
4.5 Stars out 5
PS: Seriously, I will be back and soon. There are so many intriguing items on the menu that require my attention.
PPS: Next week I try @ohmypuddin recommendation for Chinese Food: Phoenix Cafe.
