REVIEW: Shutter Island

When a movie gets delayed twice for national release, as did Martin Scorsese's latest flick Shutter Island, there is cause for worry. I didn't listen to my instincts.  I was instead drawn in by the flashy previews, the star power and the creepy subject matter.  Never have I been more disappointed in a long, long time.

Shutter Island was a long, dreadful, plodding movie.  I wanted to like it. Really I did. I ended up wanting to walk out.  I didn't.  I had to remain to learn what I already knew; that all the fore-boding cinematography, the thumping music, the numerous flashbacks, the punishing acting and the gratuitous violence were not enough to save this film.

If I were you I wouldn't waste money on this movie.  I felt like a rat in a maze.
