REVIEW: Cachito de Mexico
Getting another Broadway Restaurant out of the way for my Tour de Broadway, we happen upon Cachito de Mexico. This place has always intrigued me for the big sign up front.
Free Sopapillas. Most Mexican Restaurants in San Antonio, if they even have sopaipillas on the menu, charge you for this dish. In New Mexico, where I am from originally, they are complimentary after the meal.
Had the Machacado Plate. The dried beef was a little, well, dry. A bit hard to chew. The papas were a bit dry too. The green salsa sauce was delicious and poured it on my machacado until the dry was moist enough to eat. The tortillas, although homemade, were nothing too special.
A language mix-up almost made me miss my free sopapilla. I thought our waitress was asking if we needed our drinks refreshed but in fact she was asking if we were ready for our free sopapilla. I had to go back to the counter and tell her than indeed we were ready for our free sample. The sopapilla was good enough but again not as good as I wanted.

PS: This restaurant is a re-purposed Weinerschnitzel. Love those A-frames.
PPS: What is a cachito? Something small I guess?
